After a relaxing weekend finishing off the final bits these babies are now safely tucked away in their box in the laundry. Now I am thrashing around looking for a new winter project. There are a few British infantry to paint but in all honesty I am pretty much out of figures to work on. I am going to have to raid Hannents for a restock.
You know what I'd love to see? Closeup detail shots! How do these guys look when you're six inches (15 cm) away? Do you paint features onto their faces?
ReplyDeleteNope. No detail on these guys. Some hobbyists go foe shading and stuff. I don't have the talent or the patience for that. I paint for the bulk look. If I ever did an exhibition part of the fun would be to stop people from getting too close. Everyone zooms in for a close look and is always a little disappointed ted that the figures are not little photographs. They are designed to be looked at as simply part of a table of figures. The table itself is only a representation of reality and a pretty poor one at that.
ReplyDeleteYou appear to have plenty of patience, from where I'm sitting, and your figurines look nicely painted, so I surmise you've got talent as well. Not even a little interested in adding the finishing details?
ReplyDeleteThese look great en masse. I've just started painting in a more simplistic style, having less time, eyesight and patience than I used to, and am finding it very relaxing... Kudos to you on having run out of figure to paint.

ReplyDeleteThanks for the appreciation. Tonight is the first night of having no figures... so strange having to talk to my wife!
